Welcome to Carolina Coffee Shop

Like the Old Well, Silent Sam and Carolina football and basketball, 
Carolina Coffee Shop is another UNC tradition. An institution for more 
than 85 years and the oldest original restaurant in Chapel Hill, the
Carolina Coffee Shop is a popular Franklin street breakfast, lunch and
dinner destination as well as a thriving late night bar scene, 
 Located next to the UNC campus, we're a favorite gathering spot
with students,alumnae and locals.

While we've made many updates and improvements
over the years to our menu and our facilities, we have preserved the rich
heritage and atmosphere that our patrons have grown to love. The 
ageless brick walls and wooden booths give our Franklin Street  
restaurant its unique charm and feel. The wainscoting, counter and back
bar are remnants of its early days as a soda shop. Before becoming a
restaurant, the building housed a student post office. There is a lot
